Dr. Cynthia Lovell Elias, owner and lead veterinarian, received her B.S. in Biology from the University of South Florida in 1990, attended 1 year of post-bach. study at the University of Florida, and graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995.  After returning to her hometown of Elizabeth City, NC, and practicing for 2 years there, Dr. Elias moved to Roanoke Rapids in 1997.  Shortly thereafter she met her husband, Tripp.  She now calls Roanoke Rapids home and they have two children, a 14 year old daughter, Hope Anne, and an 12 year old son, Eddie.

After moving to the Roanoke Valley area, Dr. Elias worked for approximately two years in Roanoke Rapids at a local animal hospital and then worked for a little over a year in Emporia, Va.  Since January of 2001, she has been an associate veterinarian with Coats Veterinary Hospital in Rock Mount, NC. Sadly, Dr. Charles Marshall Coats lost his long battle with cancer in May of 2012. He was a great humanitarian, mentor, and friend, and will be dearly missed.  Despite working with a fantastic group of colleagues and co-workers, she still dreamed of having a hospital of her own close to home. From this dream, Creekside Animal Hospital was born.   Creekside Animal Hospital opened in late June of 2011 after much design, building, preparation, and finding just the right people to staff this new endeavor.   Although the hours are long some days, the rewards are tremendous and very worthwhile.

The furred and feathered (and finned) children of their family are many:  Miss Mimi - a 7 year old golden retriever (Dr. E. is CRAZY over golden retrievers!), BlackJack -2an 11 year old labrador retriever, Sully - a 3 year old Seneal parrot, Thunder and Cotton - 4 year old chinchilla brothers, Maggie, a 10 year old quarter horse mare, Shasta - a 23 year old Appaloosa mare, Little Bit, an 20 year old pony, and an ocean of fish.

When she's not working, her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, her animals, riding horses, photography, and enjoying Lake Gaston and the beaches of North Carolina.
